DIFFERENT STYLES OF KARATE

There are many different styles of Karate, each with its own techniques, training methods, and philosophies. Here are some of the most popular styles of Karate:

Shotokan : One of the most widely practiced styles of Karate, Shotokan emphasizes strong, linear techniques and deep stances. It was developed by Gichin Funakoshi and is named after the pen name he used for his poems.

Goju-ryu : A style of Karate that originated in Okinawa, Goju-ryu emphasizes fluid, circular movements and close-quarters techniques. It is characterized by its use of both hard and soft techniques. Late Miyagi Chojun is the founder of Goju-ryu.

Shito-ryu : A style of Karate that originated in Okinawa, Shito-ryu combines techniques from both Shotokan and Goju-ryu. It is characterized by its use of circular movements and low, strong stances.Late Mabuni Kenwa is the founder of Shito-ryu.

Wado-ryu : A style of Karate that originated in Japan, Wado-ryu emphasizes fluid, graceful movements and the use of leverage to overcome an opponent. It combines techniques from Karate and Jujitsu.Late Hironori Ohtsuka is the founder of Wado-ryu.

Kyokushin : A style of Karate that originated in Japan, Kyokushin is characterized by its full-contact sparring and emphasis on physical conditioning. It is one of the most physically demanding styles of Karate. Late Masutatsu Ōyama is the founder of Kyokushin.


These are just a few examples of the many different styles of Karate. Each style has its own unique techniques, training methods, and philosophies, and many Karate practitioners choose to study multiple styles in order to broaden their skill set.
